WOW! What a year 2020 has been!
Like most people, we have had to re-think and re-evaluate how we approach ministry this year
and how we practically outwork His mandate here in Vietnam. With the closure of schools from early January followed shortly by closed borders and lockdowns
due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a devastating monsoonal season with typhoon after typhoon in recent months causing mass flooding and landslides with enormous loss of life and livelihoods, it has been an interesting year for Vietnam.
That said, even though the past 12 months seems to have had many “not so great” moments, we have continued to see His hand in it all and an abundance of His blessing and protection and been able to celebrate many “wins” thanks to your generosity as a church and been a blessing to others. Our team here at AOG World Relief Vietnam, are so honoured to be able to partner with Imagine Nations Church to bring lasting change to so many people.
This year, we have partnered directly with 26 communes (suburbs), made up of 180 villages and a total population of over 155,000 people including the communes of Binh Hai and Binh Dao which Imagine Nations Church directly supports and helps facilitate transformative and lasting change in.
Also, because of this amazing partnership, we have been able to screen over 25,000 children for heart
defects with our Early Detection & Prevention Clinics, with more clinics scheduled. Because of the Early Detection Clinics, we have been able to identify children that have had a heart defect and provide these children with lifesaving heart operations through specialised hospitals and doctors. This has enabled children to get back to school quicker, and put smiles back into the family home. We continue with the delivery and support of our mobility aids to help improve the quality of life for children who have cerebral palsy or had a mobility defect from birth. Together, 13 children were provided with either a walking frame or wheelchairs so they can engage with people in their community and the world around them.
We are so grateful for the many opportunities we have been given this year in being His hands and feet here in Vietnam – particularly in one of the most challenging years for so many. Through your generosity, many lives have seen the love of God real and evident in their world. "Without your prayers and support, we could not do what we do.” We cannot count the number of times we have told people this very thing and we mean it with all our hearts. None of us will ever truly know the impact we have had in this world, but we can be encouraged that our faithfulness in seeking His Kingdom first and prioritising the one will have eternal blessings.
