SESSION 10
Session 10:
SUMMARY OF VIDEO CONTENT
Loving Jesus should be a natural response to the revelation of the cross and the sacrifice he made in order to save us. In 1 John 4:19, the apostle correctly states that ‘we love because he first loved us.’ How can we not love him, when we understand how much he loves us? And with this one truth, we find a key to discipleship.
Loving Jesus is not a duty. It is not a discipline. It starts with Jesus and responds to Jesus and grows with knowledge of Jesus. We must first let Jesus love us. We must allow the Holy Spirit to fill us with his presence so the fruit of love naturally grows in our lives.
Core Components to Loving Jesus as a Disciple:
1. Love God’s Word
2. Obey God’s Word
3. Put God First
4. Serve God’s people
How does love wane?
· Sin
· Love of the world
· Mistaking people for Jesus
How does love grow?
· Eyes fixed on heavenly things through worship, prayer, the Word and relationships with people who love Jesus passionately
DISCUSSION
1. ‘We must first let Jesus love us’. What does this mean to you? How comfortable are you letting Jesus love you? Share an experience where you have experienced Jesus’ love. What happened? What impact did this have?

3. How is obedience easier when done from a heart that loves Jesus? How has obedience brought transformation and deeper love for Jesus to your life?
4. How do you put God first? Why is meeting together so vital to our love for Jesus?
5. Can I love and not serve? Can I serve and not love? How or where do you serve? How has serving shown your love for Jesus?
6. What strategies do you have in your life to keep your love for Jesus strong and growing? Who and what helps? Who and what distracts?
